About Us

About our integrated chiropractic and rehab clinic

Over the years there have been many changes in medical care. Sophisticated diagnostic tools, and impressive surgical advances have improved our lives, while the trend toward rushed, impersonal care have left a lot of people wishing for the “good old days”.

That’s why we do things differently at Texas Spine & Wellness. At our Garland chiropractor’s office, your health goals are our top priority. We take time to listen and will do our best to make sure you never leave our office with unanswered questions. We want your time with us to be completely rewarding.

Chiropractic medicine has been helping people live healthier, happier lives for over one hundred years—and our non-invasive and drug-free treatment options are safe and affordable.

We offer a complete level 3 rehab center as well as the services of an experienced exercise physiologist and a team of licensed massage therapists.

Our Medical Director, Dr. Mandy Thompson is on-site every week for the times when you’d like the advice of MD, or feel you need the extra help that a prescription or injection could offer.

Our Nurse Practitioner, Merina Johnson heads up our cutting-edge, hyaluronic acid injection program for osteoarthritis knee pain. A simple series of injections helps reduce inflammation and adds a gentle cushion for the knee joint to deliver increased comfort and improved mobility. When tight, achy muscles need a little extra care, we offer trigger point injections, using all natural plant based medicines and homeopathy. Often these visits are covered by commercial insurance plans.

Unlike many other Garland chiropractors, we won’t ask you to sign any long-term contracts or treatment plans. You can schedule appointments based upon your requirements and at your convenience.

At Texas Spine & Wellness we take all major commercial insurance plans and have affordable rates for patients without insurance.

About Garland Chiropractor, Dr. James Mixon

Image of Dr. Mixon a chiropractor in garlandPrior to becoming a doctor of chiropractic, Dr. Mixon received his BA from Oklahoma State University. For several years thereafter, he taught physics and chemistry to local high school students.

It was during this time that Dr. Mixon’s own chiropractic “success story” lead him to a career change.

For years he’d been troubled by recurrent sinus infections. When even repeated doses of antibiotics couldn’t clear up the pounding headaches and agonizing sinus pressure, he took the advice of a family member and scheduled an appointment with a chiropractor.

Initially he was skeptical that chiropractic treatment could help his painful condition, but he experienced improvement almost immediately. He continued to follow the chiropractor’s advice and scheduled the recommended repeat visits. To Dr. Mixon’s amazement, the treatment worked.

It was then he understood the healing potential of chiropractic medicine. Determined to help others in the same way he had been helped, he returned to school to become a chiropractor himself.

Dr. Mixon earned his doctoral degree from Parker Chiropractic College in 2004. Since then, Dr. Mixon has successfully treated thousands of people, helping them regain strength, mobility and flexibility. His combination of expertise and compassion has earned him a devoted following of loyal patients and high marks for his chiropractic skill.

Meet Dr. Tyanna Sutton

Dr. Tyanna Sutton
Dr. Tyanna Sutton knew from the time she was a teenager that she wanted to be a chiropractor. Like many others, her desire sprung from personal experience. Suffering from sports related back pain as a teen, Tyanna’s mother took her to see a local chiropractor who “fixed” the problem in a few short weeks. As she learned more about the benefits of chiropractic medicine, she knew she’d found her career.

In 2009 she graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor Degree in Biomedical Science. Later that year, she moved from Michigan to Dallas to attend Parker chiropractic college. Graduating in 2011, she holds a second bachelor degree in Anatomy, and a third in Health and Wellness. She is a licensed Doctor of Chiropractic.

Married to Eddie, her husband of five years, she is an animal lover, loves reading, movies and challenging puzzles. If you ask her why she loves living in North Texas, Dr. Sutton will tell you it’s the friendly people and the warmer winters!
